Fox & the Knife celebrates the idea and spirit of aperitivo, a social setting where visitors congregate to rejoice in the simple pleasures of good company and delectable food. Fox & the Knife is a laid-back, modern testament to the cuisine, wine, tradition, and spirit of Modena, all of which are served in a pleasant, upbeat setting. The menu showcases Akunowicz's talent for hearty Italian cuisine, which she honed while working as a chef and pasta maker at L'Avian Blu Enoteca in Italy. In her hands, the strong flavors of great ingredients are presented using both conventional and modern cooking methods to create fresh takes on time-honored favorites.

When Fox & the Knife opened in 2019, it was recognized as one of the top new restaurants in the nation and continues to be James Beard Award winner Karen Akunowicz's love letter to Italian cuisine, particularly that of the Emilia-Romagna area. Her talented staff includes chefs, master bakers, and pasta makers who create exquisite delicacies like tagliatelle Bolognese and lasagna verde; the delicious focaccia is a must-have.
