Fung Wong
Fung Wong Biscuits, well-known for its trademark of offering traditional wedding cakes, has been in business for over a century and continues to offer both its devoted clientele and new ones a wide variety of classic Chinese pastries.
Chan Seng founded the company more than a century ago with the intention of producing traditional Chinese pastries and sweets using family recipes from the Chinese province of Canton, his birthplace. Chan Kwok Chin began his career by renting a modest stand in front of a historic Chinatown (Petaling Street) coffee shop (kopitiam) in Kuala Lumpur's Chinatown, with the intention of pursuing the family business.
Soon after, Kwok Chin made an investment and relocated into the coffee shop that had been owned by the owner of the kopitiam in order to improve his output and satisfy the growing demand for his pastries. Chan Yuee Soon, the leader of the fourth generation of Chans, joined in. Over the years, Fung Wong Biscuits have added joy to numerous mooncake festivals, full moon celebrations, and weddings.
