Gran Caffe Lavena
Gran Caffe Lavena, the city's oldest coffee shop, changed its name several times between 1750 and 1860, when it was taken over by Carlo Lavena. It passed through many hands, witnessed the rise and fall of empires, and weathered all of history's political and social upheavals.
One constant has been its unrivaled offers, which have satiated the taste buds of tourists for decades, as well as the staff's kind service and the wonderful surroundings. It is highly recommended for travelers because it is listed as one of Venice's historical sites.
Caffé Lavena was given luster by Richard Wagner, one of the greatest musical geniuses of all time, who frequented the establishment from the time of his first visit to Venice and became a regular.
Wagner was almost always accompanied to St. Mark's Square by Luigi, his gondolier. He lingered at the café from 5 to 6 p.m., frequently conversing with Carlo Lavena.
Address; Piazza San Marco San Marco 133/134 - 30124 Venice
