Gurudongmar Lake
Gurudongmar Lake, one of Sikkim's most stunning and unspoiled lakes, is located not far from the border between China and Tibet in the north. The icy alpine lake, located at 5,183 meters above sea level, is one of the main sources of the river Teesta. The lake is named for the revered guru Padmasambhava, who is thought to have traveled through this area when visiting Tibet.
Gurudongmar Lake, which is located at a height of 17000 feet, is arguably the most amazing lake in the world. With snow-covered mountains surrounding it on all sides and located on the north side of the Khangchengyao Range, the holy lake freezes over during the winter months, with the exception of one location where the intense conviction has been honored in particular. The lake is only a few kilometers from the Chinese-Tibetan border.
It is widely acknowledged that the lake's flavorful water has a superb intensity that helps issue-free couples bear children. Strangely, both the local Buddhists and Hindus treat the myth of Gurudongmar Lake with respect. The Guru Padmasambhava, who is said to have traveled to Tibet through this area, is the source of the term Gurudongmar. Guru Padmasambhava is claimed to have honored the area. In addition to the lake, there is a refuge for the Guru. Tourists in love pray at the temple as the army staff looks on.
