Wular Lake

The second-largest freshwater lake in Asia is called Wular Lake, and it is found at the base of Haramuk Mountain. It spans a total area of 200 square kilometers, about 24 kilometers in length, and 10 kilometers in width. The lake is located in Sangrama, close to Baramula Road, between the cities of Sopur and Bandippore.

The lake, a stunning natural spectacle, was created as a result of tectonic activity. It is nourished by the Jhelum River, and depending on the season, it can range in size from 30 to 60 square kilometers. The summer months are the best time to go here because you can also enjoy the area's pleasant wind.

In Kashmir Valley's hydrographic system, Wular Lake is a key component. The lake basin, which is the source of water for River Jhelum, the most significant river in Kashmir Valley, was created as a result of tectonic action. The lake also serves as a sizable basin for absorbing annual floodwater. Wular Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in India.
