Hackers (1995)
Hackers, a 1995 American crime film directed by Iain Softley. The US Secret Service arrests a young boy for creating a computer virus, and he is prohibited from accessing computers until he becomes eighteen. Years later, he and his newfound friends uncover a plot to release a devastating computer virus, but they must use their computer abilities to track down the evidence while being pursued by the Secret Service and the virus's evil computer genius.
It embodies the ideas given out in the Hacker Manifesto, which is referenced in the film, and was made in the mid-1990s when the Internet was foreign to the general public: "This is our world now... the world of the electron and the switch [...] We exist without skin color, without nationality, without religious bias... and you call us criminals. [...] Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity."
