Indochine Saigon
In the 13th, Vietnamese restaurants abound, but a superb pho soup is a rare find. Three cheers, therefore, for Indochine's recipe: the pho here is light and refreshing, with the freshness of its herbs and soya beans undeniable. The same can be said about the salads on offer, which range from green papaya to chicken and basilic or (for the brave) raw beef.
The banh cuon ravioli are suppler and less chewy than what you'll see in these parts, and the banh xeo (fried prawn pancakes) are just ideal in terms of crispiness and tenderness. Indochine is not just better than average in every way (including the wonderful patio), but it is also busier than most. Get there early.
