Le Drapeau de la Fidélité
You should prepare yourself for a tight squeeze. The modest and characterful Le Drapeau de la Fidelité, managed by a former Vietnamese philosophy professor, is as little as it is affordable – but that just adds to the conviviality. And what prices: throughout the restaurant's 30-plus-year existence, they've scarcely gone up, allowing you to have a drink for €1.50 and a variety of simple Vietnamese meals for €6 (€5 for students).
Mr. Quan, the proprietor, displays his peculiarities in the décor, which includes tracts on metaphysics on the walls, an ancient State of Vietnam flag atop the bar, and French pop tunes from the 1980s playing in the restroom... It's a hoot, and it's also the cheapest in town. But keep in mind that the kitchen closes at 8.30 p.m. and the theater closes at 10 p.m.
