International British School of Bucharest
The International British School of Bucharest is an international school that is situated right in the heart of the city. Believing that students learn just as much in the classroom as they do outside of it, the school is ideally situated to take full advantage of its learning opportunities and resources.
The cornerstone of the school's academic program is pastoral care and student wellbeing, with a school nurse, two full-time student counselors, and an exceptionally skilled pastoral care team on hand to offer the guidance and support required as students develop into young, self-assured adults.
Students aged 3 to 19 are served by the International British School of Bucharest, which offers a comprehensive British education. Cambridge University has accredited it as a center for international examinations. This school serves thirty different nationalities of students.
With a curriculum based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales, the school offers a coeducational environment for students. The curriculum prepares students for the Year 11 Cambridge University IGCSE exams. In Years 12 and 13, the International A Level is taught.
Students can choose from 28 examinable subjects, and they are registered for Cambridge Checkpoint examinations. German, French, and Spanish are taught in language classes alongside Romanian. Graduate teachers from Romania who are local and from Britain make up the teaching staff. Every year, the group at IBSB has no more than 23 students. A British professional is accompanied by assistant teachers in every junior class.
There are two ways to get to the International British School of Bucharest: by bus and metro. There is a dedicated science lab and an ICT suite at the secondary school. A sizable play area is located in front of the school.
The school offers a full schedule of after-school activities, hot lunches, and a bus service. For senior students enrolled in examination programs, there is also a Saturday morning revision program. For students, the academic year lasts 180 days and starts in September every year.
In England, there is a student council and a prefect system in place in addition to the wearing of school uniforms. The school accepts students of all ages and ability levels, with an open admissions policy.
As part of the CAS program, the school also provides Year 12 and 13 students with the opportunity to volunteer. The school is open Monday through Thursday from 08.30 to 16.00 and on Friday from 8.30 to 15.00.
