International School of Bucharest
The International School of Bucharest (ISB), a private international school in Bucharest, Romania, was established in 1996 and provides students ages 2.5 to 19 with an education in the British system. More than 700 students from 40 countries are served by it.
The school administers IGCSE exams and is the first CIE Exam center in Romania. Teachers' and students' perspectives on diversity have been further impacted by the school's decision to become a CIE exam center and by the fact that it offers programs at the IGCSE and AS/A levels.
The Early Years Foundation Stage department provides age-appropriate resources in every classroom that the kids can access and manage on their own. All EYFS classes benefit from instruction from our dedicated PE teachers and music teacher in addition to knowledgeable class teachers and assistants. Along with learning computer skills, children in the Stars class are also taught their native tongue (modern foreign languages such as Arabic, Mandarin, or Romanian are available).
The National Curriculum of England and Wales is followed by students in primary school (Key Stages 1 and 2) and secondary school (Key Stage 3). The Cambridge Primary and Secondary 1 Curriculum is added for the core subjects of science, math, and English. The last two years in which students are prepared for the International Baccalaureate are years 12 and 13. The Cambridge IGCSE is followed in Years 10 and 11.
At the International School of Bucharest, for kids ages 4 to 18, extracurricular activities are offered in two sessions. The optional activities on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday are scheduled from 15.15 to 16.15. Every child must be enrolled in an extracurricular activity on Wednesdays from 14.40 to 15.30 to participate in enrichment.
In addition to extra academic lessons and special interest clubs, the activities offered include sports, performing arts, science, board games, modern foreign languages, music, and debating.
A feature of British education, the House system aims to promote inclusiveness, leadership, healthy competition, and teamwork. Fox House (Blue), Lynx House (Green), Bear House (Red), and Hare House (Yellow) have been the ISB Houses.
Students compete in a variety of events, including sports, question of the week competitions, and subject games and quizzes. Over the year, every single student gets the chance to represent their House.
