Izmir World Fair

Izmir is well-known for hosting Turkey's oldest festival activity, the multi-theme Izmir World Fair, which takes place in early September. The event is organized by ZFA, a subsidiary of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality. The social and musical events that take place concurrently with the commercial fair began as an ancillary activity to stimulate public interest in the fair, but over time the festival evolved into a school in its own right. This is one of Turkey's most popular events.
