Izumi Curtis

Izumi Curtis is a brilliant alchemist and gifted martial artist who cohabitates with her husband Sig in the southern Amestrian town of Dublith. Despite the fact that she doesn't typically take on apprentices, she consented to train Edward and Alphonse Elric in both alchemical theory and martial arts for a period of six months. Izumi soon developed a love for them that rivaled her love for her own children, and she developed into a reliable source of counsel and assistance for the Elrics' future endeavors.

Izumi frequently exhibits blatant self-gratification when introducing herself as a "simple, kind housewife" to anybody who inquires. Izumi Curtis, the tough-as-nails teacher of Alphonse and Edward Elric, is a talented alchemist who can compete with state alchemists like Solf J. Kimblee and Roy Mustang. Nearly all of the Elric brothers' knowledge of combat and alchemy comes from her.

Izumi Curtis is widely regarded as an unstoppable example of great skill and power in alchemy, but even during his most impressive feats, he frequently experiences excruciating blood reflux due to an internal injury from a failed human transmutation years earlier. Her instruction and natural talent allowed Edward, at the age of twelve, to become a state alchemist. Edward and Alphonse learnt a lot from her and greatly admired her even as they grew older and more powerful. Despite her harsh treatment of them, Izumi adores them just as much as if they were her own children.
