Jaun Waterfall

The mystery of the waterfall next to Jaun persisted for a long time. Nobody was aware of the source of the enormous amounts of water. Up to 6,000 liters of water can flow over the Jaun waterfall per second in June, which is a remarkable display of the beauty of nature.

The spring water in a nearby stream in the "Les Morteys" valley was colored in 1928, and it eventually seeped into the ground. The colored water unexpectedly appeared at the Jaun waterfall eleven days later after traveling down an underground channel. And so the origin of the water's riddle was cleared up.

The waterfall is located just across from Jaun's tightly packed town center, which is home to beautiful wooden cottages, and it empties into the Jaunbach River.

A walkway nearly directly leads into the waterfall itself, allowing you to feel the water droplets in the air if you don't mind the thunderous noise of the water. In the evening, it is even more enchanted. When the waterfall is illuminated, the beauty in the air is much more pronounced because it is winter.
