Staubbach Falls

Staubbach Falls is located near Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands in Switzerland. The waterfall cascades down 297 meters (974 feet) from a valley that hangs over the Weisse Lütschine and terminates in overhanging cliffs. Staubbach Falls is the third-highest waterfall in Switzerland. Warm summer gusts cause the waves to move around, spraying the Falls in all directions. The name of the brook and the waterfall was derived from these water spray droplets. This waterfall is also one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland.

Staubbach Falls in Lauterbrunnen, one of Europe's tallest free-falling waterfalls, attracted romantics and nature enthusiasts early on. The Falls are credited with inspiring Johann Wolfgang von Goethe to create his poem "Song of the Spirits above the Waters".

One of the 72 waterfalls in the Lauterbrunnen Valley, Staubbach Falls is close to other spectacular water features including the rock-cut Trümmelbach Falls. The later Falls are reachable in the summer through a scrambled trail and a rock balcony. Information panels provide historical and scientific context for these natural events. This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Switzerland.
