Staubbach Falls
Staubbach Falls is situated near Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Highlands, Switzerland. The waterfall descends 297 meters from a valley that hangs over the Weisse Lütschine and ends in overhanging cliffs. This waterfall's position is close to Lauterbrunnen, a picturesque hamlet in the Bernese Oberland. Staubbach Falls, one of the 72 waterfalls you can visit in the Lauterbrunnen valley if you so desire, is unquestionably worth the steep ascent. One of the most breathtaking vistas from behind the falls is reachable after a little stroll up a walkway.
The stream generates a cascade at the edge of the valley's steep walls that are so high that it virtually disappears in spray before it reaches the valley floor. Staubbach Falls is particularly impressive after rain and in the early part of the season when fed by melting snow. At some times, the velocity of the stream above the fall is sufficient to push the water clear of the cliff, and the entire bulk descends in a state of liquid dust that is sandwiched between spray and cloud and sways back and forth with the slightest breeze. The impact is less during a dry summer when the water supply is greatly diminished.
