J.J. Hapgood General Store & Eatery is a throwback to the past, with a remodeled interior thoughtfully constructed and equipped to serve the community for generations. With this lovely combined restaurant and general store, the farm-to-table concept continues. J.J. Hapgood is Vermont's oldest continuously operating general store. This hidden gem in the center of Peru Village sells firewood, cheeses, fruit, beer, wine, and penny candy for the kids, among other things, from local vendors. One of their well-thought-out wood-fired pizzas is a must-try. The pizza is constructed with house-made dough produced from locally sourced wheat and topped with Vermont cured sausage and apple, wild mushroom, and cherrystone clams, among other toppings. J.J. Hapgood General Store & Eatery is a well-chosen bit of rural charm.
