Ye Olde Tavern
Ye Olde Tavern is the next name on the list today. Dorset Master Builder Aaron Sheldon constructed Ye Olde Tavern in 1790. They pay homage to the past by preserving the Tavern, and they look to the future by upholding high standards and promising to keep up with our ever-changing world. Their efforts were acknowledged in 2012 when the State of Vermont named our historic tavern a "Green Business". The Vermont Register of Historic Places added Ye Olde Tavern in 2020.
With all of the new, trendy restaurants springing up all around Vermont, it's sometimes refreshing to try something a little more conventional. This inn and restaurant, which dates back to the 1790s and serves "Continental Fare," is full of rustic, Yankee charm. Pot roast, chicken pot pie, and seafood chowder are just a few of the New England specialties you'll discover here. It is venison night on Fridays. This restaurant transports you to another age, one of the early-bird specials and mashed potato sides, and it's fantastic.
