Jog Falls
Due to its distinction as the highest waterfall in both the state and the nation, Jog Falls is among the most well-known in Karnataka. The Sharavati River in the Shivamogga District of Karnataka, India, is home to the waterfall known as Jog Falls. Depending on the quantity of rain and the time of year, it is a segmented waterfall that changes into a plunge waterfall. The waterfalls are well-liked by tourists, and according to the waterfall database, they are ranked 128th in the world for single-drop waterfalls, 490th for the overall height, and 36th for free-falling waterfalls.
After the Nohkalikai Falls in Meghalaya, which drop 335 m (1,099 ft), and the Dudhsagar Falls in Goa, which drop 310 m (1,020 ft), Jog Falls is generated by the Sharavati, which lowers 253 m (830 ft), making it the third-highest waterfall in India. The waterfall is connected to the nearby Linganamakki Dam, which crosses the Sharavati River. With a 120 MW capacity and has been in operation since 1948, the power plant was one of India's largest hydroelectric stations at the time and currently serves as a small electricity supplier for Karnataka.
