Karl Lagerfeld Barbie

Karl Lagerfeld was a fashion legend and Chanel's creative director from 1983 until his death in 2019. Mattel launched a limited edition Karl Lagerfeld Barbie in 2014 to honor the great. Karl Lagerfeld Barbie was created in limited quantities and quickly sold out. Since then, the dolls have been selling for thousands of dollars on resale sites. One Karl Lagerfeld Barbie is currently on eBay for nearly $8,000!

The Barbie Lagerfeld doll is clothed in Lagerfeld's likeness, complete with accents from his clothing line of the same name. The doll wears a tailored black jacket, a white high-collared men's shirt with French cuffs and a black satin cravat, and fitted black pants with the trademark all-over head pattern, all inspired by Karl's iconic form. The special doll wears black fingerless gloves, sunglasses, black ankle boots, and a black leather purse with silver metallic embellishments.

The doll was notable for having an entirely new facial sculpt created specifically for her. This face sculpts, later nicknamed the Karl Lagerfeld face, has now replaced the previously used Bob Mackie face sculpt as the standard face sculpts for collector brand Barbie dolls.

On our list of the most expensive Barbie dolls ever released, the Karl Lagerfeld Barbie ranks eighth.
