The Barbie and the Diamond Castle
Mattel launched a doll of the same name as a promotional tactic to commemorate the animated film "Barbie and the Diamond Castle" in 2008. While the film went directly to video, the doll is still on everyone's want list.
The doll's pink outfit was adorned with 318 diamonds valued at $94,800, fitting for her diamond castle abode. The Barbie and the Diamond Castle wore a tiara, slippers, earrings, necklace, bracelet, and ring all fashioned of white gold and set with real diamonds. The Barbie dress was additionally adorned with 44 round-cut stones totaling 20.66 carats.
Mattel's Barbie subsidiary in Mexico unveiled a Barbie for one million pesos, or approximately $95,000 at the time, in 2008. The Barbie was based on the main figure from the film "Barbie and the Diamond Castle," which was released that year.
The Barbie and the Diamond Castle doll was solely produced for publicity purposes and was never sold. The doll's worth is determined by the value of the gems she is wearing.
