Lorraine Schwartz Barbie
Mattel collaborated with 12 CFDA (The Council of Fashion Designers of America) members in 2010 to create 12 unique luxury Barbie dolls to benefit various charities. The most expensive doll that night was the Lorraine Schwartz Barbie, called the "Bling Barbie" by Schwartz and Mattel. Prior to the auction, Mattel released a Barbie Basics doll in a simple little black dress that can be readily decorated and personalized by its owners with special accessory kits containing items like scarves, wallets, shoes, or jewelry.
It's the one-of-a-kind creation of legendary designer Lorraine Schwartz, paired with the jewels Barbie is wearing. This Barbie's waist is adorned with a tiny diamond letter "B." That's right! They're genuine diamonds. Schwartz has also created apparel for Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and other A-list celebs.
Although the Lorraine Schwartz Barbie was wearing $25,000 in diamonds, she only sold for $7,500, far less than the value of her gems.
