Krasi
In Boston's Back Bay, at 48 Gloucester St., Krasi will open on February 14 if all final inspections go as expected; the location was formerly the legendary Cafe Jaffa, which shut its doors last year following a nearly 30-year existence. That is one of the best brunch spots to try in Boston. Regulars of Cafe Jaffa will discover a completely remodeled area with a lighter and airier atmosphere in place of the old tenant's bricks, dark wood, colorful art, and lamps. The long, constrained area now has an open chef's counter where head chef Valentine Howell (Locke-Ober, Mastro's Ocean Club) and chef and partner Theo Tsilipanos (Committee) will work to make diners feel at home.
When we consider the weekend brunch at this Greek wine bar. You'll feel as though you've died and gone to Mount Olympus as you devour bougatsa, a sweet custard and phyllo pie, or the loukaniko sausage strata, which is a typical Greek pastry with walnuts and honey converted into a wonderful and respectable breakfast. It's practically required to order a cocktail with Greek sparkling wine as Krasi literally refers to "wine"; try the Krasi Mimosa with mango juice and dill or the Aphrodite Bellini with ouzo-infused apricots.
