Kyushu University is one of the Meiji period's seven former Imperial Universities. With research centers in eleven distinct academic faculties, including the arts, social sciences, medicine, and science, the institution is the largest research university in the Kyushu region. Kyushu University is a Japanese national university based in Fukuoka, Kyushu's capital city. It was founded in the first decade of the twentieth century, in 1903. Kyushu University is Japan's fourth-oldest university and one of the country's first Imperial universities. As a result, it is regarded as one of Japan's most prestigious research universities. In 1994, Kyushu University became the first Japanese university to offer an LL.M degree taught fully in English.
