The University of Mumbai is an Indian public university. The Department of Law was founded in November 1959 with the goal of providing an LL.M degree program, post-graduate legal education, and stimulating legal research among the early students of India, a newly formed country. This was one of the first universities established by the British government in the Subcontinent. The annual fee for a Law Degree is approximately 31,000 Indian Rupees (31,000 INR), which is approximately 446 US Dollars, and 65,402 Pakistani Rupees (65,402).


It comprises 36 departments, 354 linked institutions, and two post-graduate centers. It has a reputation for industrial cooperation and offers a variety of professional courses. The number of research papers published in international journals has increased by 156%. Various national programs, such as SAP/CAS/DRS/DSA/COSIST/FIST, recognize 12 departments/sections.
