Lake Covadonga

One of the best lakes to visit in Spain is Lake Covadonga. The Asturian mountains contain Lake Covadonga, a pair of lakes that are unquestionably Spain's most stunning. They are made up of Lake Enol and Lake Ercina, which are located in the Picos de Europa range and are surrounded by gorgeous rocky mountains and velvet green slopes populated with mountain cattle. Many of the Picos' most popular hiking trails pass by these glacial lakes, which are a major draw for visitors to the national park.

When you arrive at the lakes, Lake Enol, the largest of the two, will be the first lake you notice. The Virgen of Covadonga is submerged deep under the lake. Every year on September 8th, the Virgin is taken down as part of the festivities honoring the Patron Saint. Spend some time admiring the mountains' magnificent reflection in the lake's crystal-clear waters.

The smaller lake of Ercina is located a little higher up, at 1,108 meters above sea level. Animals frequently can be seen grazing in the meadows surrounding the lake, providing tourists with the most lovely scene. The majority of visitors go to the Lakes of Covadonga to enjoy the breathtaking vistas, but there are other things you can do there. Continue reading to learn more.
