Lake Malaren
The third-largest lake in Sweden is Malaren, often known as Lake Malar in English. It is also among the most frequented places to visit because it is only a few kilometers west of Stockholm.
The lake drains the Baltic Sea while extending horizontally from west to east. Lake Mälaren is the ideal place for you if you're looking for secluded islands to spend your summer vacations away from other people. The majority of the area around the lake is covered in forest, but there are a few golf courses that provide a stunning man-made contrast to the surrounding landscape.
There are around 1,200 islands with extensive forested shorelines. Adelsö, Björkö, Kungsholmen, and Lilla Essingen are among the larger islands. Stockholm, Uppsala, Kungsängen, Västers, and other well-known cities are located along the lake's edge. The lake is renowned for its distinctive, frequently photographed bridges as well as the little towns and resorts that dot its coastlines of trees.
If you are an avid birdwatcher, Mälaren won't let you down. The lake is home to numerous gull, goose, and duck species. Some of the birds are the black-headed gull, herring gull, common gull, lesser black-backed gull, barnacle goose, graylag geese, Canada goose, White-tailed eagle, tufted duck, and sea hawk.
You may go for a stroll or a bike ride around the lake, grab a coffee and sit down at one of the nearby eateries, or board a boat to enjoy a tour from Mälaren to Sigtuna, Drottingham Palace, and other scenic islands.
