Lake Siljan
Lake Siljan, located in the Dalarna region in the country's middle, embodies the Swedish landscape. It's a lovely location with a laid-back, low-key attitude, surrounded by lush forests, rolling hills, and studded with little settlements.
The sixth-largest lake in Sweden, Siljan, was formed by a meteor impact millions of years ago. Attractive lakeside towns and villages, sandy beaches, and wooden cabins can all be found along its shoreline today.
Sportsmen, nature lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts flock to the island of Solleron in the northwest corner of the lake, particularly in the spring and summer. Most tourists who visit the charming towns along its shore are taken aback by their distinctive architecture, small-town charm, and old-world appeal, which give the impression that they have traveled back in time by a century or two.
Take a journey on the historic steamship M/S Gustaf Wasa from the charming village of Leksand to Rättvik and Mora to experience the lake at its best.
