Lake Tornetrask
High up in Swedish Lapland, Lake Torneträsk is around 70km long, a vast and pristine wilderness, encircled by mountains and fed by flowing streams and waterfalls. Its western extremity stretches near to the Norwegian border, while the Abisko National Park abuts its southern shore.
The Abisko National Park, which draws tourists from all across Scandinavia and the continent, includes the southern end of the lake. It frequently has ice on it from November through June, when it momentarily thaws.
Lake Torneträsk is one of the greatest sites in the nation, depending on atmospheric conditions, to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, a truly beautiful sight that shouldn't be missed when traveling through the region.
Ice fishing, dog sledding, and organized camping trips are other wintertime pastimes. The area offers excellent hiking opportunities in the summer, and the Kungsladen, Sweden's most well-known long-distance hiking trail, begins in Abisko on the lake's southern bank.
