Lingyin Temple
Lingyin Temple is also as known the "Temple of the Soul's Retreat". It was founded by an Indian monk named Huili, who was impressed by the beauty and tranquility of the area.
Lingyin Temple has a long and glorious history, having survived 16 times of destruction and reconstruction. It was once one of the largest and wealthiest Buddhist temples in China, with over 3000 monks and 72 halls. It was also a center of Chan Buddhism, attracting many eminent monks and scholars.
