The Luigj Gurakuqi University of Shkodër (Albanian: Universiteti i Shkodrës "Luigj Gurakuqi") is a public university in Shkodër, Albania, founded in 1957. It has six faculties, 26 branches, twenty-one departments, and over 190 professors.
Luigj Gurakuqi University of Shkodër has long been the region's primary source of higher education, particularly in the technical and scientific fields.
The government granted permission to the university in 1992 to begin the development of the Faculty of Economics, with responsibilities for emphasizing market economics, management, and business administration. In 1992, Menduh Derguti, rector of the University of Shkodra, requested assistance from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in developing its curriculum in market economics and business management. In September 1992, Derguti attended training seminars provided by the UNL team. As a result, Dr. Gjovalin Kolombi, the rector, established the Faculty of Economics.
The government granted the university permission to begin computer science courses in 2002. HAN University in the Netherlands is assisting with the courses. The university has a library called the Luigj Gurakuqi University Library.
