Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University
Established in 1963 and named after the late Kwanyama King Mandume ya Ndemufayo, Mandume ya Ndemufayo University (UMN) is a public university in Lubango, Angola. The institution arose from the dismantling of the Agostinho Neto University's Lubango campus during the Angolan higher education reforms of 2008 and 2009. Its operating region is limited to the provinces of Hula and Namibia.
The creation of the "General University Studies of Angola" is connected with the UMN's historical tradition (initiated in Luanda in 1962). The formation of a campus in Lubango (formerly Sá da Bandeira) was promulgated on August 5, 1963, with the goal of broadening its scope. Campus classes, on the other hand, would not commence until November 4 of the same year, with the start of the Pedagogical Sciences course. The Lubango campus was renamed the "Delegation of General Studies of Angola in Sá da Bandeira" in 1966, and it began delivering university courses for teacher preparation in the 8th and 11th groups of Higher Education. Later, preparatory courses were phased out in favor of free colleges.
