Some study suggests that dandelions and their components may help with weight loss, although the evidence isn't conclusive. Some researchers believe that the capacity of dandelion to boost glucose metabolism and minimize fat absorption may result in weight reduction. This notion, however, has yet to be scientifically confirmed. One research in mice shows that dandelion extract may help with weight loss by lowering fat absorption.
Another study in mice discovered that chlorogenic acid, a dandelion component, lowered body weight, fat formation, and changed levels of specific proteins involved in weight management. According to research published in the Journal of Nutrition Research and Practice, dandelion may have comparable effects on the body as popular weight-loss medicines by suppressing pancreatic lipase, an enzyme produced after digestion that breaks down fat.
