May lower blood pressure
Although some individuals say that dandelion can lower blood pressure, research is lacking. Dandelion is used in traditional herbal therapy for its diuretic action, with the assumption that it helps cleanse certain organs. Diuretic medicines are used in Western medicine to rid the body of extra fluid, which may assist lower blood pressure levels. A previous human investigation discovered that dandelion is an excellent diuretic. However, this was a limited trial with only 17 participants.
Dandelion also includes potassium, a mineral linked to lower blood pressure in persons with previously high levels. As a result of its potassium concentration, this plant may have an indirect influence on blood pressure. This impact is not limited to dandelion; it applies to any potassium-rich item consumed as part of a balanced diet.
