Mellieha Bay
Top 4 in Top 12 Best Beaches in Malta
Mellieha Bay (also known as Ghadira Bay) is Malta's largest beach and one of the island's most popular. Except on the peak summer weekends, the beach rarely feels crowded due to its size. This beach is ideal for families because it has a fine sand beach and calm waves with no undercurrents. The shallow seabed stretches for a long way. In fact, for around 50 meters offshore, the water is only knee-deep, making it safe for children to splash around and swim. The swimming area is separated from the boating area for enhanced protection. During summer (June through September), lifeguards are on duty and keep a watchful eye on children while they swim around in the water.
Water sports including as windsurfing, water-skiing, and kayaking are popular at Mellieha Bay. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for its environmental quality and services. Nature lovers and birdwatchers will enjoy the Ghadira Nature Reserve, which is located directly across the street from the beach.
Mellieha Bay has an edge over other beaches on Malta's northeastern coast in that it has a diverse selection of accommodation alternatives, making it perfect for a week-long or weekend beach vacation. Tourists can stay at a luxurious four-star resort or in more modest lodgings. The Mellieha Bay Hotel provides excellent customer service as well as stylish, modern accommodations with views of the sea. A restaurant, room service, a large outdoor swimming pool with a spacious sundeck, and a fitness center are among the amenities.
