Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics and Engineering Technologies
The Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Technologies (also known as Edison Academy) is a four-year career academy and college preparatory magnet public high school located on the campus of Middlesex County College in Edison, New Jersey, serving students in ninth through twelfth grades as part of the Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools. The school serves students from all over Middlesex County who are in eighth grade and are eligible to apply to their program of choice.
Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Technologies is the top-ranked school in New Jersey. Advanced Placement® coursework and exams are available to students. Middlesex County Academy for Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Technologies has a 100% AP® participation rate. The total minority enrollment is 91%, with 2% economically disadvantaged students.
The Academy's senior project is one of its most prominent features. After three years of engineering education, the fourth year is devoted to a free-form project in which students must learn to manage a full-scale engineering project from start to finish. Students must create a new product or add value to an existing one. Before beginning the project, students must conduct a thorough patent search and select a task distinct from existing products. Students must provide regular progress reports and give five to ten presentations per quarter, including seminar presentations on project-related topics.
