Monta Vista High School
Monta Vista High School is a four-year public STEM high school in Cupertino, California, United States. The school, which is part of the Fremont Union High School District, serves the majority of western Cupertino's suburban residential and industrial technology-rich area. Newsweek ranked Monta Vista as the 18th best high school in the United States in 2016.
Monta Vista High School was built in 1969 in the city of Cupertino, in the heart of Silicon Valley. It is consistently ranked as one of the top comprehensive high schools in Santa Clara County, California, and the United States. Monta Vista currently has around 1,800 students in grades 9-12. Almost all students graduate, and nearly 98 percent continue their education after high school.
Monta Vista is a California Distinguished School (2006 and 2012) as well as a National Blue Ribbon School (2008 and 2014). Monta Vista has been named one of the top 100 high schools in the country by U.S. News & World Report in the last five years.
The curriculum is aligned with the California State Standards and the Learning Goals of Monta Vista High School. Monta Vista enriches its comprehensive curricula with 27 Advanced Placement and Honors classes in seven curricular areas, special day classes for their special education students, sheltered and EL classes for their English learners, AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination), and a wide range of elective options to help all students achieve their academic potential.
