Midnight Run (1988)
Martin Brest directed Midnight Run, a 1988 American action comedy film. When mafia accountant "The Duke" (Charles Grodin) is hired by Eddie Moscone (Joe Pantoliano), he promises Jack Walsh (Robert De Niro) that the assignment would be simple or a "midnight run." When Jack discovers The Duke, however, the FBI and the mob are anxious to apprehend him. Jack must avoid the cops, hide from the mob, and keep The Duke's unpredictable personality from driving him insane in a cross-country chase.
The film was nominated for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor for De Niro at the 46th Golden Globe Awards. Following the critical and commercial success of the original film, The Midnight Run Action Pack was released in 1994, consisting of three made-for-television sequels that did not involve any of the principal actors, albeit a few characters from the first film were retained.
