Mrauk U: Most-Visited Site
Mount Popa, also known as the Nats' home in Burma, is an extinct volcano with a monastery on top known as the Popa Taungkalat. It is the most prominent Nat pilgrimage place in Burma. Mount Popa, which translates to "flower mountain," reaches around 1,500 meters above sea level. The mountain is located in Mount Popa National Park. Despite the fact that the region is very dry, the mountain and surrounding area are green and look like an oasis in the desert. The mountain and National Park have many lovely flowers and other greenery since the volcanic soil is fertile and there are many streams in the vicinity.
When you arrive, you are free to climb the 777 steps to the top. The 777 steps will lead you all the way to the summit, where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the plains. There's a big pagoda at the summit, as well as stunning views of the arid, dusty terrain below. Taking a tour from Bagan is the best method to get to Mount Popa.
