Mussulo Island
Mussulo is an island and commune located south of Luanda, Angola, with a population of over 7000 people. It's in the province of Luanda's municipality of Belas. It's actually a spit formed by Cuanza River sediments carried north by the Benguela Current. It's around 30 kilometers long, 3 kilometers wide at most, and less than 100 meters wide at its narrowest points in the south of the peninsula. Mussulo is connected to land by the Ponta das Palmeirinhas, the province of Luanda's westernmost point. The peninsula forms the Mussulo bay, which is surrounded by three islands.
