Original Royal Naval Rum Tot
The Royal Navy has been storing the Original Royal Naval Rum Tot in stone flagons for the last 40 years as aged rum. It was served to British Royal Navy sailors as part of the last rum ration in July 1970, when the 300-year-old tradition of a daily rum ration came to an end. The day began at 6 a.m., according to the forenoon watch, and ended at 11 a.m. The last rum was served aboard British Royal Navy ships during this period. Prior to the sale of the last 1000 bottles, the Original Royal Naval Rum Tot was only served at state functions and Royal Weddings (British).
The legendary rum has a three-hundred-year-long romantic history. A standard Original Royal Naval Rum Tot contains an eighth of a pint of rum. This has an ABV of more than 50%, 70cl/54.3 percent, and is traditionally regarded as – overproof. The nose of the rum is full of blackberries, oak, and dark chocolate, but it is far superior to the Pusser rum. It has an exceptional flavor with notes of coffee, tobacco, oak, dark chocolate, coffee, and blackberries.
