Rhum Clement 1952
Rhum Clement 1952 is ranked No.10 on our Most Expensive Rum (Top 10) list, with a current retail price of $1,200. It is dark amber in color and was bottled in 1991. The bottle's label features an image of Homere Clement and was made in Martinique on the site of an old creole sugarcane plantation. He was a physician and the mayor of Le Francois. As a racial socialist, he recognized the high demand for high-quality alcohol during World War I.
He began by buying an old Creole sugarcane plantation – Domaine de l'Acajou – and immediately constructing a distillery. As an entrepreneur, he was able to produce some of the world's best rum. He left the distillery to his son, Charles, after his death. The apple, as they say, does not fall far from the tree, and in this case, it falls in a good way.
Charles carried on his father's tradition of producing high-quality alcohol. The Rhum Clement 1952 is the first rum made at the original distillery before it was relocated.
