Oropendola Waterfall
Oropendola Waterfall, which is inside Rincon de la Vieja National Park, can only be reached by hiking a 0.8-mile in and out trail. Most ability levels can access the trail, which has a suspension bridge. Bring a swimsuit so you can cool off in the waterfall! The water is a deep shade of turquoise. Due to the rich mineral content of the soil in this volcanic area, it has a distinctive color. To get a better glimpse, visitors can descend the metal stairs to the riverbed. This location is wonderful since it allows you to explore the waterfall's base and appreciate the size of the canyon. You might not be able to approach too close during the wet season (May through November), as the water can be very strong depending on recent rains. But when it's calmer during the dry season, you can swim around with ease and enjoy a close-up view.
After receiving your tickets, proceed to the parking lot. After the guard has verified that you have a bracelet, you can start the hike. Despite being well-maintained, the dirt trail to the waterfall has a wild appearance. It has a wide, flat beginning. Tropical scrub woodland lines the trail's flanks. The trail appears to be particularly green during the rainy season (May through November). However, because this is one of Costa Rica's driest places, the vegetation becomes more sparse during the dry season. You'll reach a stunning hanging bridge across the river gorge just as the chilly, moist air from the falls starts to seem like it's cooling you off. One of the most distinctive hanging bridges we've seen in Costa Rica is this one. It has steps built into it and slopes downhill to help you descend the remaining amount of elevation.
