Patara London South Kensington just received the Diner's Choice Award (2019) from Open Table for its artistic cuisine filled with authentic Thai dishes. Patara, which translates as gracious lady, is named after Khun Patara Sila-On, a restaurateur who has brought her warmth and generosity of spirit to the Patara restaurant group for the past 30 years, overseeing the opening of restaurants in London, Switzerland, Austria, and Singapore, as well as her native Thailand.

The Thai food served here is delicious. Begin your evening with a plate of handcrafted, flower-shaped dumplings, then go on to a bowl of rich coconut-braised beef seasoned with lime, mint, and lemongrass, and a warm, soft-centered chocolate pudding topped with Madagascan vanilla ice cream. The restaurants' design reflects the food, mixing the traditional with the modern. Modern dark wood interiors, a neutral color palette, and brushed stone floors are just a few of the features. Traditional Thai designs, ranging from subtle wall-mounted sculptures to an outstanding miniature temple, make you feel like you're in the real Thai.
