Pavel Bure
Pavel Bure is a former right-winger for the Russian national ice hockey team. Bure was a 12-year NHL player with the Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, and New York Rangers, gaining the moniker "the Russian Rocket" for his speed.
While his father wished for Pavel to follow in his footsteps and become a world-class swimmer, the youngster had other plans, which included playing professional hockey. Pavel, despite never having played ice hockey, was enrolled in a hockey school sponsored by CSKA Moscow at the age of six.
Pavel was a hard worker in school and was crowned the best forward in his league at the age of 11. Pavel, at 12 years old, was chosen to appear in a television special alongside Wayne Gretzky and Vladislav Tretiak in July 1982. He joined the Central Red Army's junior squad two years later. Bure was a member of the Soviet national midget squad that toured Canada in 1986.
Bure's net worth is estimated to be $70 million, making him the sixth richest hockey player in the world.
