Pekan Tutong
The peacefulness of Tutong is its most attractive feature. With its attractive village surrounded by little hills and gorgeous black water lakes, it is a must-see destination. Because of the release of tannins from the surrounding plants, the waters have a dark tint, almost like tea. Spend some time in town and sample local specialties like Rojak and Pulut Panggang. Every Thursday morning, there is even a bustling market with local handicrafts, cuisine, and fresh fruit.
Pekan Tutong (just Tutong Town in English) serves as the regional center for the Tutong District, which encompasses the territory immediately east of Bandar Seri Begawan on Brunei's northern outskirts. It's home to a number of acclaimed schools and a few decent guesthouses, and it's right on the edge of the South China Sea. The city's golden length of sand at Seri Kenangan, however, is unquestionably the main attraction. This gleaming, broad beach follows the Tutong River's course, and is lined with tempting beach bars and seafood restaurants along the way — it's undoubtedly one of Brunei's best spots for sun, sand, and sea.
