Portgas D. Ace

Portgas D. Ace was the biological son of the late Pirate King, Gol D. Roger, and Portgas D. Rouge. He was also the sworn older brother of Luffy and Sabo. Portgas D. Ace was born as Gol D. Ace and went by the moniker "Fire Fist" Ace. Ace was taken in by Monkey D. Garp, as Roger had requested before his death. Prior to joining the Whitebeard Pirates and rising to the position of 2nd division commander, Ace served as captain of the Spade Pirates. He ingested the Mera Mera no Mi, which gave him the ability to change into and control flames.

As the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates, Portgas D. Ace was a fairly well-known pirate. Ace possessed all three varieties of Haki in addition to the devil fruit talent. Ace took special care of Luffy after Sabo's "death'' because he did not want to lose his only sibling. This is demonstrated in the Grey Terminal when he saves Luffy from Bluejam.

Ace realizes right away that he cannot allow Blackbeard to carry out his plan to capture Luffy, and as a result, he ends up getting caught. Ace sacrifices his life to save Luffy's during the Marineford storyline by hurling himself between Akainu's strike and the two of them. Despite the fact that they were not blood relatives, Ace nonetheless let himself be slain, demonstrating how much he cared for Luffy and thought of him as a brother.
