Quail Creek Reservoir
Quail Creek Reservoir is an oasis of warm, clear waters nestled against a gorgeous backdrop of hills just a short distance from Sand Hollow Reservoir. If Mother Nature had her way, the lake would not truly be here. It was created via a feat of engineering in which the Virgin River was redirected through a sizable pipe before being dammed up across the valley entrance.
You can tip your head to the engineers who built this watery playground in the barren region close to St. George as you wade into its warm waters. On one side of the lake, lovely beaches with shallow approaches are lined with picnic tables, barbecue grills, and boat launches. Kayaks, Jet Skis, and stand-up paddleboards can all be rented at the neighboring concession. They also sell ice for your cooler, munchies, and cold beverages.
The reservoir at Quail Creek is a great spot to wet a line. Due to the lake's depth, which bottoms out at 120 feet, the fishing is excellent here. If you have a boat with downriggers, it would be worthwhile to try to hook a rainbow trout because they thrive in this chilly water. Large- and smallmouth bass, bluegill, and crappie are additional warm-water species that hide out in the shallower water. Quail Creek Reservoir is one of the best lakes to visit in Utah.
