Radical Focus: Achieving Your Most Important Goals with Objectives and Key Results
Christina is a "curious human" with a significant resume and is a well-known thought leader in Silicon Valley. She has worked with companies such as LinkedIn, MySpace, Zynga, Yahoo!, and others on re-design and first product introductions, as well as launching three startups, an online design magazine called Boxes and Arrows, and co-founding the Information Architecture Institute. She is currently a Lecturer in the Stanford Computer Science department's Human-Computer Interaction group.
To impart useful lessons on goal setting in the form of a tale, the author draws on her experience working with Silicon Valley's hottest firms. How can you encourage a varied team to come together and work tirelessly for a single, difficult goal? How can you maintain motivation in the face of failure and setbacks? It's about setting up a framework for regular check-ins, important outcomes, and most importantly - the beauty of a good fail, as you can see from Hanna and Jack's narrative. The second half of the book includes a bonus section that Wodtke has added to set out her most useful advice on how to adapt Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to your particular workplace and circumstances.
Some reviews about this book: "This book is useful, actionable, and actually fun to read! If you want to get your team aligned around real, measurable goals, Radical Focus will teach you how to do it quickly and clearly." - Laura Klein, Principal, Users Know
