Sana'a University
Sana'a University was founded in 1970 as the first and most important university in the Yemen Arab Republic (North Yemen), which is now known as the Republic of Yemen (see also Aden University). It is now organized with 17 faculties and is located in Sanaa, Yemen's capital. The institution has various buildings for employees and students to stay in, as well as a partnership with Kuwait University Hospital for medical students.
Sana'a University had two faculties when it originally opened: the Faculty of Sharia and Law and the Faculty of Education, which includes the Colleges of Arts, Sciences, and Education. These disciplines were evolved into three new faculties in 1974: Arts, Science, and Education. The Department of Sharia and Law commemorated the establishment of the Business Department, which eventually became a distinct faculty. The institution had grown to five faculties at that time, and it continued to expand until it covered all of the other disciplines. Sanaa University has twenty faculty as of 2005, with 12 on the main campus and eight others spread around the country.
