This former schoolhouse turned restaurant is Tyrolean through and through, perched on a scenic ridge above Zell am Ziller. The larch-wood interior is bathed in honeyed light, the patio takes advantage of the views deep into the valley and beyond, and the short menu reflects a family that values local sourcing and farm-fresh ingredients.

The Geisler family knows their suppliers by name, and their food changes with the seasons - in the summer, garden salads, herbs, and trout from nearby brooks, and in the fall, venison cooked two ways. At Schulhaus, Austrian wines from the Burgenland and Wachau are paired with attractively presented, flavor-packed meals.
